Johnny Cash, Country Music's Bare-Bones Realist, Dies at 71

Johnny Cash, the legendary Man in Black whose gravelly bass-baritone was the vocal bedrock of American country music for more than four decades, died early this morning at a hospital in Nashville. He was 71.

He died of complications from diabetes, his manager, Lou Robin, said in a statement, according to news agency reports.  Continued…

John Ritter, 54, the Odd Man In `Three's Company,' Is Dead

John Ritter, who played the lovably goofy closet heterosexual Jack Tripper in the television comedy series "Three's Company," a smash hit in the 1970's, died on Thursday night in Burbank, Calif. He was 54.

Mr. Ritter became ill on the set of "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," his current series on ABC, and died at a local hospital, Susan Wilcox, his assistant, said in an interview with The Associated Press. Continued…
